- Goodreads Description -

17-year-olds Lizzie, Ella, and Betsey Best grew up as identical triplets... until they discovered a shocking family secret. They're actually closer than sisters, they're clones. Hiding from a government agency that would expose them, the Best family appears to consist of a single mother with one daughter named Elizabeth. Lizzie, Ella, and Betsey take turns going to school, attending social engagements, and a group mindset has always been a de facto part of life...

Then Lizzie meets Sean Kelly, a guy who seems to see into her very soul. As their relationship develops, Lizzie realizes that she's not a carbon copy of her sisters; she's an individual with unique dreams and desires, and digging deeper into her background, Lizzie begins to dismantle the delicate balance of an unusual family that only science could have created.

Review - No Spoilers

I don't really know what to think of this book even though I've read it. You'd think I would know as its a yes or no answer. Did you, or did you not like the book? Well this book has me so confused as I have so many mixed feelings about it. I'm really sorry if this review doesn't turn out very straight forward. The cover is obviously very pretty but I prefer the other one that America got as it's way cooler. I feel like because it got so many good reviews that I should like it but I just found that it almost became a chore to read it.

I'll start with the good things, the character development was pretty good but there weren't actually that many characters in the story. It was a very unique plot-line which I loved because I've never read a story like this. After I hop you read my last post, What makes a good...?, and you'll know that I wrote a post about what makes a good protagonist. Well I found that in this story Lizzie was a very likeable character and I think she was a very good protagonist. Also, another thing about this book is that it's a quick read and it only took me like 2 days to read it.

The things that really annoyed me was that it's insta-love. From reading my other reviews, you would know I don't like it as I don't think it's realistic. I think this was a major factor that made me not want to read it as I just wanted to roll my eyes every time. I'm not saying the love interest wasn't likeable, I just don't like the fact that it was insta-love. Sometimes I found the storyline a little slow and boring so I had to struggle through it and it felt more like I was reading this for school.

I really hope my review doesn't make you not want to read as it was a good book, but it just wasn't for me. I think it's because I've been reading other amazing books that are worthy for 5 stars that this just lowered the standards of this book and I know it's unfair to compare book but...I just didn't enjoy it as much as I would have liked to. But then again, I think all these feelings make it a good book as it makes me really think about it. Thank you for reading my review and I'm sorry if it was a little unclear.

In the end I give it 3.5 stars!

  1. Shame this didn't work out for you. It sucks when reading feelings like a chore. And now that you mention it, the romance did move rather quickly. It has a pretty cover but the other one is way better like you said.

  2. Aww, sorry you didn't like it. :( Some books just aren't for everyone, and I can tell from the synopsis that it wouldn't be for me. I totally know how you feel, I've encountered many books that didn't have any major flaws, but fell flat and something felt missing. Anyway, great review!

  3. Thanks for your review Francoise, this is the first time I have heard of this book and the cover looks amazing! I love the concept of the book too, although it kind of felt like they told us everything from the summary alone. Thanks for sharing :)
