Vampire Academy Premiere

By 7:01 pm

The madness all started when receiving this email!

Sunnny texted me in the middle class saying she won double passes and we had entered the same competition. For some reason I had a feeling I won too and looked what popped up as unread. Imagine my excitement and it was so difficult to stay silent in class.

All VA fans in my class hated (in the good way) me! (And probably still do)

And since I won double passes they all expected me to take them. Then there expressions turned to outrage because I told them I was taking my mum instead. And since I'm new to this awesome fandom they all felt like I didn't deserve it, if it were reverse situations I would probably feel the same. Especially since Zoey Deutch and Lucy Fry were making an appearance.

So with my many discussions and fangirling sessions with Sunny all the preparations were set. It took me the whole weekend to get my hair prepared (taken out of braids and straightened) and my outfit decided. And then not long after it was THE DAY! I don't know about you but I have never been to a movie premiere so I had no idea what to expect.

End Result
We had to be at the Event cinema in the city between 5:45-6:00 to get our passes. As soon as school finished I rushed home and jumped straight into the shower and got ready. My mum called the taxi and we were waiting...and waiting...and EVEN MORE WAITING. I'm freaking out because I calculated all the times correctly and I was going to miss the specific train I needed! Thankfully a neighbour dropped us off at the station and saved the day! This is what happens when you rely on public transport...

As soon as my mum and I arrived there was a buzz of excitement surrounding the cinema. We waited in line and collected our passes. As soon as it was around my neck, a rush of excitement flooded me and it felt official. Expecting a red carpet, I was caught by surprise to find a pink carpet. It was still awesome and there were cameras flashing at every moment. It felt magical and I felt like a celebrity!!! Fans who had not won passes stood outside the ropes waiting for the guest stars Zoey Deutch and Lucy Fry.

I eventually caught up with Sunny and her mum and we received roses. We waited in line and got photos of us taken. We grabbed Mocktails (Mock cocktails) in fancy light glasses and waited in the room soaking up the atmosphere.

While we waited to be accepted into the cinema we got photos with various Australian celebrities. We also spotted the bachelor and his girlfriend.

And then finally they opened the doors to the cinema! Sunny's mum and I rushed in to get good seats while my mum and Sunny took care of the food. Throughout the movie we snacked on Sour Skittles, Maltesers and Popcorn.

Finally Zoey Deutch and Lucy Fry made an appearance. They spoke to us about their general experience of acting in the movie and cracked lots of jokes. Their personality shows a lot through the movie which I loved, they have the best friendship just like Rose and Lissa.

Review of actual movie:
Even though I've seen so many bad reviews for the movie already I actually loved it! It was really fast paced like I had heard but then they wouldn't have been able to include all the scenes that were in the book so I preferred it that way. I was so worried that the actors wouldn't be able to portray the characters well but boy did they do a good job. Zoey is the best actor for Rose and she got her attitude and personality perfectly. There were loads of awesome one liners and sassy comebacks. I feel like half the movie had me laughing.

It was so funny because as soon as the movie started playing there was a collective scream amongst the audience. It was such a great atmosphere because it was just a cinema filled with fangirls. It didn't matter whether you were young, older, guy or girl we were all equal fans. Every Dimitri or Christian scene there was a squeal of delight erupting from all of us. Sunny and my mum were just laughing at as all because we would always awwwww at the same moment every time there was a cute or romantic scene. The first time Dimitri calls Rose Roza...everyone was overcome with the feels and just melted.

Sometimes I felt like the acting was over done and it was incredibly cheesy at times but for some reason I still loved it. One thing that really disappointing me was that Dimitri doesn't really have a Russian accent. I was really looking forward to it because I just imagines a really sexy voice. Even though most of the movie was just plain funny we still had the awesome action and deep and meaningful scenes. There a couple of changes from the book but they made it so it flowed well. The academy didn't look exactly how I imagined it, in fact I think it looks better. It was more classy, fit for the royals haha! I think the number one thing I wanted to know was the pronunciation of Moroi, Strigoi, and Dahmpir. I pretty much got them all right which was a relief because there's nothing worse than realising you've read all the books and have been saying it wrong.

So that's my thoughts of the movie! It had it's cheesy moments, hilarious moments and just damn hot ones. It had everything I wanted in it but still could have had a little extra. Overall I was pretty impressed with the outcome because sometimes book to movie adaptations can just turn out really horrible.

  3. That sounds totally amazing, I'm glad you and Sunny got to go and report back! You are super lucky for winning the double pass and seeing the stars in person. That must have been an amazing, once in a lifetime experience! Thanks for the review of the movie, I think if I don't expect it to be THE MOST BRILLIANT MOVIE EVER I will enjoy it.
