Sweet Peril (The Sweet Trilogy #2)

By Wendy Higgins

GoodReads Summary -
Embrace Your Destiny
Anna Whitt, the daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a vow. She’d been naive about a lot of things.

Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

Review - No Spoilers

Ok, wow I just finished this book and it was so good. Exactly what I wanted for a sequel and it's sad that I'll have to wait till next year for the next book as I think the next events that will take place will be more exciting and suspenseful.

To start off this review I'm going to start off with the cover, it's not the most amazing cover I have ever seen. The two are supposed to be Kaidan and Anna but they're not really who I pictured. I'm not trying to be a hater here but Kaidan is meant to be hotter than that so the cover didn't really do him justice. The girl is meant to show Anna's determination but to me she just looks like she is glaring at us.
Moving on, I found Anna's character slightly annoying with her obsession with Kaidan. I'm not saying it's a bad thing (because honestly who wouldn't get caught up over such a hot guy like that) I just found a little too much at times. But with all that he was her motivation to grow stronger which I love. Nothing pleases me more than when the female character is strong and can fight back.

Without trying to spoil too much, in the first book we get a growing sense of a love triangle. This love triangle becomes much more stronger in this book and I find this slightly annoying. I'm growing tired of all these love-triangles in Romance books, I just feel like Authors can't find a better idea. I agree it builds up more tension but it's just becoming too common. And it makes me think, are people really like this in real life?

I loved the layout of this book, the author puts quotes at various points throughout the book and It's just a little refreshing to get away form the story for a few brief moments. It's like it gives you time for your mind to catch up and absorb what's happening. I don't think I have ever commented on this before but I love the title. It just describes the book in two words.

I can't complete this review without commenting on this last major factor. The intense heated scenes throughout this book will leave you hyperventilating on the floor. This book is definitely swoon-worthy and I'd say that Sweet Evil the first book was seductive this book was just plain sexy.

Review - No Spoilers

I just started and finished this book yesterday and I thought it was hilarious. The cover of this book looks magnificent and it's really intriguing. I like the colours and the simplicity of it just adds more to the effect.

The first thing I like about this book was that the main characters personality is likable. I've said this many times in my previous reviews but that is always a key factor for a good book in my opinion. (If I don't like the main character then I most likely won't read it.) The love-hate relationship between Emma and Galen is hilarious to read and some of the lines in the book leaves you laughing for ages.

This book changes POV's (point of view) throughout the book. I thought it might bother me but it doesn't because the author is a skilled writer and I thought it was good. It can be a bit risky changing POV's because in my view it reminds me of a really bad fanficion. But, I'll admit some books need a change of POV because there is so much happening that we need to have it. So I say great job with that.

I couldn't put the book down because I just wanted to know what happened next. But I usually say with most books as I am usually so engrossed in the story-line. I definitely recommend it to anyone who loves mermaid stories and I think it's a great book to start with if you haven't tried mermaids, because honestly I was never really a mermaid fan. (Unless you count the fact I liked Disney's The Little Mermaid movie when I was 3)

And a round of applause to the author for keeping the ending a secret. I did not suspect a thing, I'll admit I had my suspicions but really? I guess I got half of it right. Any of you who has read this book will understand what I'm saying but I don't want to spoil anything for those of you who haven't.

And lastly it ended on a cliff hanger! I hate it with a passion when authors do this but I guess it's a brilliant way to keep us  readers interested. Can I just say it tortures us readers! Why do you want to torture us? It should be illegal! I'm sure every reader out there agrees with me. Just please, answer me. WHY??? Is it really that necessary?

Overall I really enjoyed reading this book. It was nice to read my first mermaid book that I actually liked and it was a great break from the usual Vampire and Werewolf scenarios. There should be more Mermaid stories but I guess its just not as popular. I think it was hilarious and if you want some good entertainment then definitely read it. It's also easy to read and I think the author did a great job of a teenagers perspective. If your a quick reader you'll most likely finish this in a day like I did.

My Soul to Take

BY Rachel Vincent

When Nash, one of the hottest guy starts paying attention to her, she can only hope that she can have a normal life. But her life is far from normal as a number of kids in her school start dropping dead for no apparent reason. This is the least of her problems as her latest crush seems to be the only one with the answers to all her problems.

What could Nash be hiding?
.

Review - No Spoilers

This was such a good series that held my attention for quite a while. It was such an individual idea and I had never read a book that was like it. There were a couple of things I liked about it

1. Kaylee, the main character was likable. I didn't have the need to roll my eyes like I seem to be doing quite frequently lately. She has a great deal of courage and she isn't stubborn like a lot of characters.

2. The plot was unique and again I did not suspect a thing. It wasn't predictable and as you get further into the series, the events that take place will give you whiplash.

3. One major thing I liked about this book was that the reaction that Kaylee has is exactly what a normal person would be like. This makes it easier to relate to her character and you can put yourself into her place. I give a round of applause to the author. There is nothing I hate more than when the main character gets overly emotional and just acts...stupid.

4. It was a different sort of Paranormal Romance. It was completely different to the usual vampire or werewolf book which is what I am use to. I can tell the author spent a lot of time building up the story-line and made sure it all worked perfectly which is what everyone wants.

The cover looks awesome and I liked the overall uniqueness to it and I love the title.

Review - No Spoilers

Hey guys, now keep in mind that I read this like two years ago so I had to get the summary off Goodreads. I usually try to do my own summaries so I'm not copying anyone. From what I remember this was a cute werewolf book. I'm writing a review for this one because it is not very popular and I think all books should be noticed.
With the popularity of werewolf books, it is really important to come up with an engaging plots and to not make it too cliche, and this book just doesn't do that. I like to make my reviews positive but I think there could have been more to it and I think the story-line has a lot of potential.
But like I said, all books deserve to be noticed.

The Selection

By Kiera Cass

35 girls are selected for a chance of a lifetime. They have the chance to marry the prince and live in a world of luxury. This opportunity means they can escape the barrier that is set by each caste. But America Singer does not wish any for any of these things as her heart belongs to another. But the weight of her family situation pushes her to reconsider her decision.
.

Review - No Spoiler

The Selection was a cute book. I was sick all day so I was able to read it in one day. It's not one of my favourite books, maybe because I didn't feel like there wasn't enough of a problem to keep me interested. To me a good book there has to be a major problem or scenario that they have to try and fix. And there has to be an intense scene whether it would be a fight or major suspense. Those are the sort of books that keep me interested. Some of you may disagree and say there is a problem in this book but it didn't do it for me. It just doesn't meet my expectations. Everyone has a different opinion on each book I guess and this is mine. Maybe I didn't like it as it was basically all romance and I'm use to Paranormal Romances where there's usually vampires and werewolves and there's always a fight. If I could explain this book in one word it would have to be 'cute.'

It wasn't exactly cliche to me. I was expecting a different ending but I guess I need to read the next book to determine whether my suspicions are correct. It was a nice quick read to keep me occupied during the day but like I said, not one of my favourites. I just expected a little more intense scenes.

I love the cover, every time I see it, it immediately draws my attention. I love the colours and the pose in which the girl is in creates a sort of mysterious sort of effect. *round of applause*

I think you'll enjoy this book if you like the princess story-lines and this was slightly Dystopian which is another factor I liked. It is easy to understand the different castes and I adore the characters. To me this book was very well written and I enjoyed it nevertheless.

Divergent

By Veronica Roth

One Choice Can Transform You
In the Dystopian world where it is divided into five factions. Each faction have certain traits: Abnegation: to be selfless, Candor: to only speak the truth, Erudite: to crave knowledge and Dauntless: to be fearless. Beatrice Prior is faced with the choice to pick one of the factions. She either stays with her own faction or chooses to pick what her heart tells her too. But what other people don't know is that she is Divergent. Divergent meaning she has all five traits and this is bad thing.
All Divergent get killed.
.

Review - No Spoiler!

Divergent is an amazing Dystopian book. I was a little skeptical as I don't really go for that genre but man did it change my mind. The book kept me hooked and I think I would have read it in a day if it weren't for certain things interrupting me. (*cough: school, family, homework*) I fell in love with the characters and I love how the main character Tris is very strong and she's not a girl who always needs saving which is brilliant as we don't need another Bella. I'm trying to do this review without spoiling anything...can I just say it's very hard.

I never really comment about this but the cover is brilliant. It really does attract your attention and I don't feel like such an idiot reading it in public. I hate it when it's a great book but the cover sucks...believe me, I've gotten odd stares when I'm reading it at the bus stop.

Ok, the plot was brilliant. Completely original but I must say that the ending was slightly predictable. This didn't lower my rating any less though. The book was a great length but why...why did it have to end on a cliff hanger. I guess it's a great way to keep the readers hooked. I think it was a brilliant suspenseful novel but I think it could have been a little more tense. I like books that just leave your mind reeling but I guess you don't want one that will leave you with nightmares so I think it was the right amount of tension.

Another thing is that it wasn't confusing. You get use to the faction names and you start realizing that you start bringing it into everyday conversation. I was talking to my friend and I think I said something like "Oh yeah, your Erudite." She had no idea what I was talking about since she hasn't read it yet. She stared at me like I had two heads.

Bringing it back to the book, Divergent is one of the best Dystopian books I've read. I hate it when people compare it to The Hunger Games as they are completely different. Just because they are both Dystopia doesn't mean they should be compared. People have been recommending it to me for ages and I just avoided it. Well lemme tell you, Divergent will change your life.

Movie Comment -

I am so excited for when the movie comes out! The cast looks ok, not how I pictured Four though. I just hope they follow the book and don't stuff it up like some movies. I hope they make it as good like The Hunger Games. I think that Divergent will be one of the best action movie and it's great that they decided to take it on.

She meets this boy and he is not like them either and he tries to keep it that way. He stands up for what he believes is right and Bianca admires that about him. There new bond strengthens and when the truth about her comes out....it might just sever that bond.

Review - No spoilers

This is yet another Paranormal Romance that I loved. If your a fan of vampires then I believe you'll love this book. I've said this in a lot in my reviews but this book has a major surprise which I'm not going to spoil. Most books lead up to a big reveal but this one was more a slap to the face or a cold splash of water. You might be able to figure it out yourself when your reading it but I didn't see it coming from a mile. I thought it would be the typical cliche books which go along the lines of 'girl meets guy, they don't admit it for a while but they both like each other, they find out they can't be together, but then in the end it's a happy ending.' well I can tell you now, this isn't exactly a cliche book. While reading the book I thought it was a little lovey-dovey so I'll admit there was a little eye-rolling but in the end it did impress me.
Can I just say that I am torn between giving this a 3 or 4 star but I only say 3 stars because I'm comparing it to other books I've rated. But I still loved the book and I really loved the characters.

But what if he is not human?
Trouble arises and the only way for her to survive her senior year is to stick with him. The person she hates most.
Could life get any weirder?
.

Review - No Spoilers

For the first book in the Lux series I thought it was really good. The love-hate relationship between Katy and Daemon is simply hilarious. One thing I thought was interesting was that the author uses the confusion at the start of the book to make you keep reading. Although some aspects of the book reminded me of the book I Am Number Four so I'll admit I was a little disappointed with that. I don't usually go with these sort of books but it was a great break from the usual Paranormal books I read. But don't get me wrong, I still think it was a brilliant book.

Katy is a fellow blogger like some of us which I found interesting. This made her character easy to relate to and she seemed like an ordinary teenager.

I'm starting to find common in Young adult books is that the main girl always moves to a new town and there is always the bad boy. I would really like to read a book where the guy moves next door or something and maybe the girl is the baddass. Now that would be an interesting read. Please if you've read a book like this, leave a comment and i'd love to read it and make a review.

After you read this book, the character Daemon will draw you in. He is swoon-worthy, drool-worthy, but I must say, it's based on your opinion. There are moments when I could hit him with a book. (ironic really)

Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief

Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school...again. And that's the least of his troubles when a demon that use to be his teacher claims he stole the lightning bolt. Lately, mythological monsters and the gods of Mount Olympus seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. And worse, he's angered a few of them. Zeus' master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect.

Review - No spoilers

Percy Jackson will be one of the best Greek Mythology books you'll ever read. There isn't one word that can describe this book. Epic, awesome, wow are the sort of words that come to mind when you read this series. This book I think was aimed for mainly boys but the writer did such a great job that he got heaps of fan-girls (including me!) For me, I think that Percy Jackson is the book you read if you want some of the best action scenes.

You don't have to have prior knowledge about Greek Mythology before reading this book, in fact you learn heaps about it just reading this book. I didn't know anything beforehand but now I can name most (not including minor gods) Greek Gods. Percy Jackson is the book to introduce you into Greek Mythology.
Another thing is, this book isn't just for young people. Adults can enjoy this book as well.

The Rise of Nine

By Pittacus Lore

Who can they trust?
In the third book of the Lorien Legacies we get even more thrilling action. The stakes are higher than ever and each member of the Garde are feeling the pressure. There abilities and team work are put to the test in the most suspenseful situations. The two groups try desperately to meet each other without getting caught by the Mogs. It seems like an easy task until they realize a group of humans are siding with the Mogadorians.
How will they ever meet up?

Review - Warning - Spoilers

All the fans including me were waiting for this book to come out for ages. And I personally think that this was one of the best books in the series. I liked the ending but it ended on such a cliff hanger and I am just dying to read the next book. I can't wait to read the epic showdown between the Mogadorians and the members of the Garde. And I wonder which problems will arise...
I also really want to find out whether John is Pittacuse Lore. I think it could be a possibility but part of me thinks that he isn't the strongest out of all of them. But hey, I need to see more action to be the judge of that.

I GIVE THIS WHOLE SERIES:

The Power Of Six

By Pittacus Lore

John, Sam and Six are on the run from the Mogadorians. On there journey they use there time to strengthen there Legacies. When a signal is found they realize they have a way of meeting up with the rest of them. They discover that others are in trouble and captured so Six leaves to help a girl while John and Same settle off on there own to find clues about the Mogadorian base. This book changes between perspectives of characters.

Review - Warning - Spoilers

This book was a great sequel to I Am Number Four. I liked it because we get to see some of the other members of the Garde and there abilities. I also like the individual personalities, the different point of views was a good idea as then you get to see different locations and people. I like how we also find that there was another ship that was sent.

I Am Number 4

By Pittacus Lore: AKA James Frey

9 children were shipped to Earth after their planet was destroyed by the Mogadorians. They live in hiding with there Cêpan who's job is to guide, teach and protect them. But this is not an easy task for the Mogadorians as they must kill them in order. 3 of them are already dead, Number 4 is next.
.

Comment - No Spoilers

I Am Number Four was one of the best science fiction books I've read. It keeps you up reading for hours wondering what's going to happen next. This is a book in which you fall in love with the characters and wish you were one of them. If you like a good suspenseful Science Fiction this is a book for you. This book is just simply out of this world and you will enjoy the main character.

Review- Warning - Spoilers

This book was absolutely brilliant. Unfortunately the movie didn't fulfill my expectations but the books are always better than the movie. I love how we get to see how John is faced with normal high school problems but also has to deal with his legacies. I found it really sad when Henry died as I thought he was such a good Cêpan and it's sad to let the character go. It makes you wonder whether if he didn't die, how the story would change. I am Number Four was a brilliant book which I enjoyed reading and I give a round of applause to the author.

Oh My Gods

Tera Lynn Childs

When Phoebe's mum meets a new guy they move to an island making her life crash around her. Her senior year plan and track season were thrown out the window. She has to deal with a new school, an evil step sister, and keeping secrets from her old friends. A secret about her new school and the people in it...
And better yet, her mums dating the principle of her new school.
Could her life get any better?

Review - No Spoilers

Oh My Gods was such a funny book. The humor in it was great and I loved the ending. I think this is a great book for you if you just want  a quick read on the weekend.

I loved the main character as she had a great sense of humor and she isn't a typical girly-girl who cares about what her clothes look like. She loves to run and you could really relate to her as she had the normal teenage problems. This is a book that will keep you laughing and entertained throughout the whole book. It's just the small things that makes you laugh.

And the worse thing is, she lives on a small island called Nantucket and everybody knew everybody and everything. So roomers spread quickly.
Her world turns to hell when she meets Lucas Delos. She has this crazy urge to kill him.
But what she doesn't know that this is all part of history repeating itself.
.

Review - No Spoilers

I loved this book. Again this is another book set on Greek Mythology. This book also took a completely different aspect to others. I loved the romance and the twist at the end. I found the start a little slow but once you really get into the book you can't stop reading. It's obvious that the author took great time in building the story line and she also spent a lot of time studying Greek Mythology. The book really lives up to the title. Forget Romeo and Juliet, this couple has it bad when it comes to being 'star-crossed lovers'.
This book will leave you hanging off the end of your seat. It's hard to put it in words but it's more of a you really love it, or you don't like it sort of books. It doesn't always suit peoples interests. (but it's the same with every book) I for one, honestly I would write more...but I simply can't. You just have to trust me and read it!

He claims that she is to be the next  Romanian vampire Princess who is to marry him to complete a contract between two families. The sudden change from normal teenager to Romanian Princess sends her into a whirlwind of questions that could only be answered by this mysterious new boy.
But when you think everything will end up perfectly...
A cheerleader will cause an all out war!
.

Review - Warning - Spoilers

I loved this book. At first you think it will be the typical romance book with a happy ending and everything will turn out perfectly but then the turn of events has you surprised. I like the way how Jessica convinces Lucius by making him kill her. But obviously he still loves her so he couldn't do it even if he wanted to. I predicted this would happen but just because I predicted I would happen didn't make my view of the book drop in any way. I'm excited to read the second book as it will now be set in a castle in Romania and I want to know what the new 'situation' will be. Which I assume is her trying to learn how to be a queen. I 'm just waiting for an interesting twist that will leave me stunned.

Review - No Spoilers!

I absolutely loved this book. I hate to admit it but I do judge a book by it's cover, so this one immediately attracted my attention. It stood out to me from all the other books I could have chosen. One of the reasons I love this book is because it is GREEK MYTHOLOGY. I absolutely love that genre and it was also a romance. It was completely different to what I was use to. After reading Percy Jackson I had this view of the Greek Gods. Aimee Carter set a a completely different view on each of the Gods personalities. The way she wrote Hades personality made you change your view of him and just fall in love with him. Yes he is the typical dark and mysterious man but that's what draws you in. Overall I extremely enjoyed reading this book as it was completely different from the other Greek Mythology books I have read. I give the author a round of applause for keeping me so engrossed in the book. Usually I can put down a book and walk away but this one I was determined to finish. I think you would of had to pry my fingers away from it.

Some people may say it isn't a good book as it doesn't depict the Gods very well. Well let me tell you every person has a different outlook on certain things. The author has the right to write the book however she wants to, it is simply just different from what your use to!

That aside, The Goddess Test was certainly interesting. The ending was a surprise to me and I thought the story-line was brilliant.

Comment - No spoilers!

I think this book will most likely suite your interests if you like unsuspecting twists at the end. Also, if you like Paranormal Romances like I do this is definitely something you'll want to read. Wendy Higgins is a brilliant writer who has obviously put a lot of thought into her books. And one key factor I liked about this book is that she didn't put a cliche ending that you'll expect. This book is pure genius and I'd like to give the author a round of applause for actually getting it right. A key point for this book which also boosted my rating is that I don't have the wish to throttle the main character. The main character Anna is a likable character and you don't feel like rolling your eyes every time she does something stupid. I am really picky when it comes to reading a book and the main character. I find it incredibly annoying when they do something stupid .

Another thing is, the introduction is not boring. If your like me who absolutely hates a slow moving story, you'll love this book. This is a book which you cannot put down. This book will leave you pining to read the next book. There wasn't one boring moment in this book and I didn't have the need to skip any pages.
I had to read this book on PDF because I couldn't wait for the library. I placed my reservation but of course...there was a long list of people. And unfortunately people aren't always the fastest readers not saying that it's a bad thing. But in this situation...it was literally killing me!

If you like the 'bad boy' type of characters like I do, this is definitely a book you'll enjoy.

Review - Warning - Spoilers!!! - I need someone to fan with me!

This book was amazing. I remembered seeing the book cover in my library last year thinking I wanted to read it. I never got around to it and just yesterday I started/finished it. It was so good it only took me one day to read it. I thought the story line was extremely unique and I liked the slight love-triangle in it towards the end. I loved the concept of how the children of demons have to create chaos in order to work and stay alive. It makes you wonder, oh my gosh what if this was real! The author also did an excellent job of fitting small details that make life seem a little more clearer. The whole thought of that nagging voice in the back of your head is really your Guardian Angel.
The ending both frustrated me but I loved it. It annoyed me because 1. Anna shouldn't have interfered with the meeting especially because it wasn't like she was in trouble but I can forgive her as it's her Angel nature, 2. She didn't hook up with either Kiadan or Kope (but I guess that couldn't be helped as it won't work unless things change). 3. the author ended it in such a talented way that I can't be mad. To me and my friend who I recommended it to we thought it ended in such an unsuspecting way that we had to process it for 5 minutes.
Overall I thought this book was brilliant and it's obvious that the author put great thought into the story line and ideas.

Introduction

Hello my fellow Readers!

This is my first time creating a blog so please no haters. I will be using this to make reviews on books that I've either read or I will be reading. I've posted my own summaries on the book so that you can get a feel on what it is about! Maybe you'll end up reading it as well...

Thank you
